The Martinusladen – a special kind of food bank – has been a social meeting point in Laupheim since 1998. “Helping people without shaming” – here, people in need such as people with insufficient pensions, single mothers, the chronically ill or the permanently unemployed can shop at a reduced price by presenting the notification of social benefits, child benefit supplement or housing benefit.
Currently around 350 people are being cared for. The Martinusladen thrives on the commitment of many volunteers.
The range of goods consists of basic foodstuffs, which are donated either by private individuals or by companies. If this is not the case, in certain cases the Martinusladen will buy the basic foodstuffs to ensure supplies. Other foodstuffs, which are also donated by private individuals or companies, such as bread, cheese, fruit and vegetables, are available depending on the donation.
Now, with your help and in collaboration with REWE (family Birnbreier), we were able to fill our van with lots of food and donate it to the Martinusladen. The joy and gratitude about this was enormous – help that is reaching.
